Wine:

In Occitan, “Pégairolles” means “rolling stone”—a nod to the striking landscapes of the Larzac plateau, where dry stones define the terrain. These limestone screes shape the vineyard terraces, form low walls known as clapas, and play a key role in regulating soil temperature and expressing the altitude terroir’s natural minerality.

Born from this exceptional setting, the 2024 Pierre qui roule Red is made primarily from Grenache and aged entirely in concrete vats, with no oak, to preserve the full freshness of the fruit.

On the palate, it charms with bright acidity and a juicy, easygoing style, layered with delicate notes of violet, blackcurrant, macerated dark berries, and bay leaf. Its fluid, silky texture—carried by vibrant, coulis-like fruit—gives the wine a radiant energy and instant appeal.

Rated 92/100 by the Selection Committee, Pierre qui roule 2024 is pure pleasure—a red to enjoy young, within 2 to 3 years, perfect for relaxed meals or Mediterranean fare.

A standout estate in the Terrasses du Larzac and a 2-star domaine in the French wine guide RVF, Domaine du Pas de l’Escalette has truly come into its own. For over two decades, Delphine and Julien Zernott have tended their steep, stony vineyards with care—terraced plots set on limestone scree and planted with old vines full of character.

Farming biodynamically, this skilled duo produces wines that are precise, elegant, and full of fresh, vibrant flavor.

From these high-altitude slopes come mineral-driven wines that reveal the full nuance of Mediterranean grape varieties—pure, energetic, and unmistakably of their place.
