The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine A Second Growth in name, but a First in reputation, Château Cos d’Estournel is one of Bordeaux’s true legends. Its Grand Vin is a thing of beauty — bold, powerful, and almost impossible to beat. Grown on deep gravel soils, it’s often the most full-bodied wine in the region, yet it never loses that silky finesse and layered complexity that come from being neighbours with Lafite.
Wine Hailed as near perfection upon release, the 2019 Saint-Estèphe Red Cos d’Estournel now delivers a brilliant and precise expression of its terroir and signature style. Driven by 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and matured in 55% new oak, this wine displays masterful balance, with a juicy, savoury, and deeply layered profile, crowned by a luminous finish that firmly establishes its status as a benchmark. Its power is beautifully matched by remarkable finesse and sublime freshness, accented by hints of menthol and captivating fruit flavours. Naturally, its ageing potential is immense. Rated 98/100 by the French wine guide RVF and 97+/100 by Parker.
Vinification Hand harvested from 23 September to 7 October.
