Trained alongside Telmo Rodriguez, he took over his father’s vineyards in 2004 and has been crafting wines ever since that are crystal-clear, honest, and completely unadorned.

Spotted by Parker right from his very first vintages, he’s proved beyond doubt that you can make truly world-class wine here—organically farmed, rooted in old vines, and celebrating the region’s indigenous grapes.

A major force in Manchuela and a critic’s darling (he’s about as “Parkerised” as it gets), Ponce is on a serious roll. And let’s be real—finding this level of quality at these prices? Just brilliant.

Vintage after vintage, the 2023 Red Manchuela continues to impress. With its fresh, expressive nose of stone fruit and a subtle smoky touch, it showcases Bobal (75% of the blend) at its finest. Fermented and aged in large wooden foudres, it preserves incredible freshness and purity. Delicate, precise, and beautifully balanced, its silky tannins enhance its elegance and refinement. This is the best vintage ever produced for this cuvée—rated 98+/100 by Parker.
